On November 24, 2017， a news conference regarding the Tianfu Financial Index was held in Chengdu by Renmin University of China and China Fortune Media Group, during which the aforementioned Index was released for the first time.

The compilation of the Tianfu Financial Index chose 4 municipalities, 26 provincial capitals (except Lhasa) and 5 cities specifically designated in the state plan, and assessed them from 8 perspectives, including their financial markets, financial institutions, employment environments, human resources, technology and finance, green finance, culture, and rural finance.

Consumer finance and inclusive finance were also selected as indicators.
